BlackOutlets is a website dedicated to confronting the realities facing black content creators (and those connected to the African Diaspora) in an increasingly digitally based media landscape. Focusing on issues of ownership, access and framing, BlackOutlets not only looks to provide historical context to the issues facing black content creators of the past, but also serve as a resource for current and aspiring content creators.
Though this site will focus on the work and challenges that have particularly impacted black content creators of media, BlackOutlets hopes to provide insights and spark conversations which will lead to a media landscape that will better reflect all communities.
So, lets begin.
